Swallow defense within the scope of legal options
Swallows are popular birds that are extremely cute to look at, but homeowners are less fond of seeing them. The animals' droppings leave an unsightly appearance on facades and house walls. Since strict animal protection comes into play here, many homeowners ask themselves what they can legally do against the feathered animals. And one thing is clear: there are some effective methods to ward off swallows. Bird spikes and bird nets are proven options
The facade of the house can be well protected as a prophylactic against the swallows. The bird spikes, which are shaped in such a way that the birds cannot breed directly underneath them, have proven to be successful. If there is already a nest on the building wall, a net must be used to deter swallows. This is made of either PE or stainless steel and is just as effective at preventing birds from breeding directly under the edge of the roof.
Swallow defense on the house using wire and electrical systems
A tried and tested method. The best way to keep birds away from the house is to use wire attached to the eaves or wooden rafters at an angle downwards towards the wall. This optimally prevents nest building and the advantage is that this swallow defense is hardly visible. There are also special electrical systems or methods that work using ultrasound. These are laid below the edge of the roof and prevent the birds from perching. Swallows can perceive the sounds from the frequency range of ultrasound and react to them by looking for another nesting place.
Swallow defense done right
If you choose a method to deter swallows at home, you will find different methods that can be purchased cheaply. What they all have in common is that they are extremely effective, but do not endanger the animal or respect its strict species protection. Nests must not be destroyed, which is why their construction simply has to be prevented.
